The hunt is still on for the gunman who opened fire on a classroom at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island on Saturday, but police reportedly have now identified who the suspect is, and have discovered the person’s abandoned vehicle.

The car is described as a rented gray Nissan Sentra, which was also seen near the MIT shooting Monday night.

Police were seen Thursday night surrounding a storage facility in Salem, New Hampshire.

Fox News correspondent Brooke Taylor announced, “Sources confirm with me that officers are in Salem, New Hampshire where the suspected shooter’s abandoned car was found near a storage facility.”

At 7:48 pm ET, Taylor reported, “Direct high level source on the ground says they are about to enter the storage facility and the reason you saw all the officers in the parking lot just standing there was because they were watching surveillance footage to see whether the suspected was in the storage facility still. ATF, FBI, and Providence Police all on scene.”

Journalist Nick Sortor wrote, “The FBI has surrounded a location in Salem, New Hampshire believed to be connected to the Brown University shooting, per FOX25. Agents can be seen using night vision goggles and carrying long rifles.”

Sharing a video clip, Sortor added, “FBI agents seen SURROUNDING storage facility in Salem, NH where the suspected Brown University shooter’s vehicle was found abandoned. This is heating up QUICKLY. Rifles are being drawn.”

In one video posted on X, a woman says her brother is the manager of Extra Space Storage, and shows a photo, who she says is the alleged gunman – a man who has a storage unit at the facility. The photo of the person matches the physical profile of the person seen in surveillance footage released by police.

Info NH, a local news media outlet, announced in a Facebook post, “We are here in Salem New Hampshire on Hampshire Drive at extra space storage. Several federal agents and local police have surrounded a building. Earlier we were able to confirm they have located the vehicle connected to the Brown University shooting.

“We are unsure at this time if the suspect is in the area or what the heavy law enforcement activity is for. This is a developing story and will change as we get additional information.”

Fox25 Boston also announced, “BREAKING UPDATE: Providence police, FBI, and members of state police are surrounding a location in Salem, NH.”

Rumors are circulating that the gunman shot himself at the storage facility. This has NOT been confirmed.
