From The Hill: President Trump responded to several incidents of violence that took place in the U.S. and around the world over the weekend and lamented the lives lost.
The instances are unrelated but spurred fears of violence both domestically and internationally. Trump addressed the shootings in Rhode Island, Australia and Syria while at a Christmas reception at the White House on Sunday.
“I just want to pay my respects to everybody,” he said.
“I just want to pay my respects, unfortunately,” Trump said. “Two who are no longer with us. Brown University, nine injured. Two are looking down on us from heaven.”
“Likewise in Australia, as you know there was a terrible attack,” the president added. “That was an antisemitic attack, obviously. I just want to pay my respects to everybody.”
“I must say, in Syria, also, we had an attack in Syria,” Trump continued. “We had three great patriots terminated by bad people … But I just want to pay my respects to the families.”
