BREAKING: Trump declares airspace above Venezuela is to be closed entirely as he ramps up lethal strikes

FROM DAILY MAILPresident Donald Trump has declared the airspace over Venezuela ‘to be closed in its entirety’ as the US continues to threaten military action against the country.

In a Saturday morning post to his Truth Social, he asked all ‘airlines, pilots, drug dealers, and human traffickers’, to steer clear of the area.

Warships, aircraft and military personnel have moved into position near the Caribbean country in the last few months, raising fears that Trump is preparing for military action.

The Trump administration has accused Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro of leading and protecting a criminal network known as the Cartel de los Soles.

“To all Airlines, Pilots, Drug Dealers, and Human Traffickers, please consider THE AIRSPACE ABOVE AND SURROUNDING VENEZUELA TO BE CLOSED IN ITS ENTIRETY,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Gen. Dan Caine, Trump’s military adviser, visited Puerto Rico on Monday, where troops have been gathering as US officials have revealed that their operation is entering a “new phase.”

There are currently no plans for Maduro and Trump to meet, although they reportedly spoke via phone last week.
