President Donald Trump announced in a Truth Social post Friday night that he is terminating deportation protections for Somalian refugees living in Minnesota… IMMEDIATELY.
Trump’s sudden announcement was in response to a report this week that highlighted a number of fraud schemes being investigating by the Department of Justice, all mostly involving people from Minnesota’s Somalian immigrant community.
In September, the Justice Department posted press releases on the following three investigations, among which a number of people have already been indicted:
- 56th Defendant Pleads Guilty in Feeding Our Future Fraud Scheme
- Defendants Charged in First Wave of Housing Stabilization Fraud Cases
- First Defendant Charged in Autism Fraud Scheme
The above mentioned investigations are focused on at least three separate welfare programs in Minnesota which have allegedly been defrauded of hundreds of millions of dollars in total over the last five years.
President Trump blasted out the following statement Friday night:
“Minnesota, under Governor Waltz, is a hub of fraudulent money laundering activity. I am, as President of the United States, hereby terminating, effective immediately, the Temporary Protected Status (TPS Program) for Somalis in Minnesota.
“Somali gangs are terrorizing the people of that great State, and BILLIONS of Dollars are missing. Send them back to where they came from. It’s OVER! President DJT.”
Somalian refugee Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) responded to Trump’s announcement.
“I am a citizen and so are majority of Somalis in America. Good luck celebrating a policy change that really doesn’t have much impact on the Somalis you love to hate. We are here to stay 💁🏽♀️,” she taunted.

SPECIAL NOTE: Rep. Omar may not have heard yet…. but the Justice Department just revoked U.S. citizenship from a Venezuelan woman who defrauded the Medicare system of over $5.4 million.
Minnesota state Rep. Kristin Robbins, a Republican who is running for governor of Minnesota, reacted to Trump’s post.
“.@POTUS is absolutely right: @tim_walz turned a blind eye to fraud & criminals were emboldened to exploit the system. I’ve led the charge to hold fraudsters AND state gov’t accountable. As Governor, I will stop the fraud & end the exploitation of vulnerable Minnesotan citizens,” Robbins wrote.

Minnesota state Rep. Lisa Demuth, another Republican who is ALSO running for governor of Minnesota, agreed.
“President Trump is right — fraud under Walz is out of control and unacceptable. Minnesotans are done with it and it ends when we fire @Tim_Walz & I am Governor! Anyone involved in these criminal activities should be swiftly deported if they are not lawfully present in the US,” Demuth wrote.
