IMMINENT RELEASE: Trump admin. called in MAGA lawmaker to Situation Room regarding signature on classified Epstein documents

Rep. Lauren Boebert, a Colorado Republican and major MAGA ally, met with Trump administration officials in the White House Situation Room to discuss her support for a bill requiring the Justice Department to release all unclassified documents and communications related to Jeffrey Epstein and his sex-trafficking operation.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed on Wednesday that the meeting was part of the administration’s push to persuade Boebert and another GOP congresswoman to withdraw their support for the bill and a related petition that would force a vote. The New York Times reported that the Situation Room meeting occurred on Wednesday in the White House’s secure crisis center.

“I’m not going to detail conversations that took place in the situation room,” Leavitt said during a briefing with reporters.

Leavitt added: “Doesn’t it show transparency that members of the Trump administration are willing to brief members of Congress whenever they please? Doesn’t that show our level of transparency? Doesn’t that show the level of transparency when we are willing to sit down with members of Congress and address their concerns?”

On social media following the meeting, Boebert posted: “I want to thank White House officials for meeting with me today. Together, we remain committed to ensuring transparency for the American people.”

The Epstein Files Transparency Act — sponsored by Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Ro Khanna (D-CA) — has the backing of all House Democrats and three Republicans: Lauren Boebert, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Nancy Mace. Newly released emails from House Oversight Democrats are expected to renew interest in the issue, including a 2011 message in which Epstein claimed President Donald Trump had “spent hours” at his home with a trafficking victim and another in which he wrote that Trump “knew about the girls.”

“The Democrats selectively leaked emails to the liberal media to create a fake narrative to smear President Trump,” Leavitt said in a statement.

Leavitt and Republicans on the oversight committee said the victim Epstein referred to was Virginia Giuffre, who had accused Epstein of arranging sexual encounters with powerful men. Giuffre, who died earlier this year, consistently maintained that Trump was not one of the men who victimized her.

The White House meeting with Boebert also came as Democrat Adelita Grijalva of Arizona was sworn into office on Wednesday, more than seven weeks after winning a special election to fill her late father’s seat. Grijalva has said she plans to sign the petition to force a vote on the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which would give the effort the 218 signatures required to mandate a House vote on the bill.
