2 Corinthians 4:17-18
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,
18 while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
[King James version]
These verses, along with the song below, are a tremendous reassurance this morning. No matter how dark life may appear at times, we know that there’s still a God in Heaven who is over all, and He is still at work on a far greater, eternal plan.
The Lord wants us to focus more on the unseen things that are eternal, and not so much on just the outward things we can see that are only temporary. This is not easy… it takes faith.
Hebrews 11:3 tells us, “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”
And verse 6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him. For he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
“Dear Heavenly Father, We thank you for your faithfulness to us, and we know You will never fail us nor forsake us. Help us to trust You, even when we cannot see the next step ahead. Help us to cling to Your hand, keep our eyes on Jesus, and never be afraid to stand firm in our faith. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.”
Reminder: The God of the mountain is still God in the valley…. when things go wrong, He’ll make them right… the God of the day is still God in the night….
