FROM WASHINGTON EXAMINER Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was caught off-guard during a press conference after meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House regarding Trump’s calls for Russia and Ukraine to “stop” their war, “where they are.”
In a social media post published shortly after Trump departed the White House for a million-dollar fundraising dinner for his super PAC Make America Great Again Inc., he implored Russia and Ukraine to “stop where they are.”
It is unclear from the post whether Trump is calling for Russia and Ukraine to redraw their borders along the current front line of the war, after last month encouraging Ukraine in another post “to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form,” or simply calling for a ceasefire.
Trump wrote on Truth Social: “The meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine was very interesting, and cordial, but I told him, as I likewise strongly suggested to President Putin, that it is time to stop the killing, and make a DEAL! Enough blood has been shed, with property lines being defined by War and Guts. They should stop where they are. Let both claim Victory, let History decide! No more shooting, no more Death, no more vast and unsustainable sums of money spent. This is a War that would have never started if I were President. Thousands of people being slaughtered each and every week — NO MORE, GO HOME TO YOUR FAMILIES IN PEACE!”
Speaking to the press, Zelensky said,“The president’s right, we have to stop where we are.
“This is important and then to speak.”
Zelensky suggested that the call needs to be made by Russian President Vladimir Putin “because [Ukraine] did not begin this war.”
