Good Enough
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
(Written by Kat L.)
“Good enough” is a terrible way to see yourself. No one wants their friends, boss, or family to say that.
Sometimes we’re feeling low, like we’re falling short for those around us, or worse, falling short for God.
But when we’re feeling low, it’s important to remember that God made us to learn, explore, create, give, delight, love, and be full of potential and purpose. He tucked His wonder inside us so we could help others find Him.
We’re meant to reach out, believe the best, freely give grace, and add goodness to the world. We are meant to see the beautiful and rest in His lavish love.
God never said, “My goal is for this one to be simply good enough.” Like the verse for today says, “we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.”
So whatever makes you feel “not good enough,” remember that with Jesus, we’re forever safe, accepted, held, and loved by Him.
Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for loving us and accepting us every single day. You made us in Your own image, and You make no mistakes. When we’re feeling low, sad, and unlovable, help us to remember that You are our Creator and we dare not be unloving to someone You deem lovable and worthy. Help us to seek Your strength and to know that Your hand is always upon us. Help us to reach beyond the limits of our own concerns and egos to let Your will guide us and lead others to You. In Your name we pray. AMEN.
