FROM DAILY MAIL: Nearly two dozen people are feared dead after a massive explosion erupted at a Tennessee bomb factory this morning.

The blast went off at the Accurate Energetic Systems plant Friday around 7.50am local time, the Hickman County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

At least 19 employees currently remain unaccounted for, according to Odell Poyner, the emergency management director in nearby Humphreys County.

The initial blast was so enormous that locals reported hearing and feeling it from miles away.

According to reports, the “blast happened close to the time of the regular shift change so there could have been more people there coming and going.”

Several cars and buildings appear to have been damaged by the blast. Authorities are concerned about secondary explosions. Emergency crews are on site, urging the public to stay away. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) is investigating the explosion.

News Channel 5 in Nashville reported, “AES specializes in the development, manufacture, handling, and storage of products and explosives for military, aerospace, and commercial demolition markets.”

“Whether for military acquisition offices, defense and aerospace primes, or commercial demolition sectors, AES is your partner in achieving superior energetic solutions,” the company’s website states.

Residents reported hearing the blast miles away. Beyonica Holt, who lives about 15 miles from the factory, told The Tennessean she “thought we were at war” and feared she was about “to die.”

“I was standing in my bedroom. It shook the whole house. I thought it was going to blow out my windows – it didn’t, but that’s how big it was,” she said.

Lobelville resident Cody Warren captured the explosion in a video. Lobelville is located about 20 miles from the plant in McEwen.

Hickman County Mayor Jim Bates said, “It’s an unfortunate incident. It was felt around our county.”

“We just pray that the good Lord keeps their hand on the families that are involved.”
