From Fox News: A professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill revealed during a panel at Harvard University that an Antifa-linked group requested his gun club to provide security during the August 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.
“Prior to that day, as the planning for the defense of Charlottesville proceeded, the local Anarchist People of Color Collective, or APOC, had requested that Redneck Revolt be present to secure Justice Park for a wide variety of activists who were expected to assemble,” Dwayne Dixon told Harvard faculty members and students who gathered in February 2018 to discuss the merits of potential violent political activism.
UNC placed Dixon on leave on Monday, Sept. Sept. 29, after reports of his activism and run-ins with the law related to that activism surfaced. He was reinstated on Friday, Oct. 3, after pushback from supporters.
Harvard’s Carr-Ryan Center for Human Rights abruptly deleted the video of the panel, which was first published on Feb. 3, 2018, from its official YouTube page early last week.
In the video, Dixon admitted that on the day of the now-famous protest in Charlottesville, where a woman was run over and killed by a speeding car, he personally had waved his rifle at James Fields, the driver of the vehicle.
A Fox News report last week explained:
Dixon and several other members of Redneck Revolt were also present at the 2017 neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. That rally ended when James Fields, now a convicted murderer, plowed through a crowd with his vehicle, killing a woman named Heather Heyer.
Later, during a panel hosted by Harvard University, Dixon said Fields “slow rolled” past him in his vehicle several times.
“One time he paused right in front of me, and I waved him off with my rifle,” Dixon said. “In his last pass he accelerated and a block away he killed Heather.”
Although the video has now been yanked down from YouTube, a clip was shared on X of Dixon bragging about his actions that day, that ultimately ended with Heather’s death:
NOW we know why James Fields was speeding down the street in Charlottesville…. this professor just admitted he had chased him with a gun! https://t.co/tQZdMIfewE

The left-wing gun club, Redneck Revolt, put a note on their website saying they disbanded in 2019.
According to The Anarchist Library, APOC has listed one of its key principals as, “We call for a social revolution to erect a new society entirely.” The report adds:
The group also says it opposes “any forms of capitalism and class oppression and support the liberation of the poor and the workers” and “oppression of womyn, queers, transfolk, two spirits, youth, genderqueers, differently able-bodied people, people with mental health complexities, animals and all that are oppressed.”
