BREAKING: Armed man who attempted to take Justice Kavanaugh’s life receives light prison sentence

The biological male who threatened to assassinate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in 2022, and then demanded to be called by a female name, has just learned his sentence… and it’s not much more than a slap on the wrist.

From Fox News: A federal judge sentenced Nicholas Roske, who now goes by Sophie, to eight years in prison on Friday for attempting to murder Justice Brett Kavanaugh in the weeks leading up to the Supreme Court’s landmark Dobbs decision.

The sentence is far lower than what the Department of Justice had sought. Prosecutors said Roske should face at least 30 years, while Roske’s defense team had asked for eight.

Judge Deborah Boardman said during the sentencing hearing that while Roske’s actions were “reprehensible,” the judge also considered a string of mitigating factors, including that Roske “spontaneously confessed to and cooperated with police.”

In earlier communications, Roske’s attorneys informed the court that while their client’s legal name was Nicholas, Roske goes by the name Sophie and uses female pronouns.

Using the transgender pronouns, the Judge Boardman, who was appointed by Joe Biden, said Friday, “I believe Ms. Roske understands that what she did was terribly wrong. I find her remorse sincere.”

Boardman literally admitted that when deciding on the sentence for Roske, she took into consideration her concern over President Trump’s executive order requiring transgender inmates to be housed in prisons that align with their biological sex.

DOJ prosecutor Coreen Mao had stressed that Roske’s attempt against Justice Kavanaugh’s life may have inspired additional threats, as he also received a death threat in April by someone who mentioned Roske’s name and referenced shooting the justice in the head.

New information was also released just last month, revealing that Roske’s assassination plot against Kavanaugh in 2022 was much more serious than initially reported, as he had actually touted his desire to kill THREE conservative justices on the Court.

Daily Wire reporter Luke Rosiak, who was in the courtroom, shared the following exchanges:

Judge Boardman, a Biden appointee, is referring to the defendant as Ms. Roske and asking whether “she” will be placed in a women’s prison and given hormone replacement. The implication is that if not, she will be given a shorter sentence.

Judge Boardman is asking how Roske’s transgender status should impact her sentence, and demanding evidence that longer sentences provide more deterrence. Asking why, 3 years later, “ms roske” is a risk to the public.

Seems somewhat Kafkaesque. Judge asked “ms roske, have you read the sentencing report?”

Roske, a very tall man, boomed in an unusually deep baritone, “yes.”

Judge Boardman sentences Nichols Roske to 97 months in prison, which is what his lawyers asked for. Sentencing guidelines called for 30 years, but she undid most of the terrorism enhancement. He could be out in 4 years with good behavior after plotting to kill Brett Kavanaugh.

Daily Wire’s Mary Margaret Olohan added, “The families were hoping Judge Boardman would respond this way, btw. In their letters to the judge they specifically highlighted that Roske thinks he’s a woman and suggested he should be let off easy to accommodate his gender identity.”

Carrie Severino, president of Judicial Network, reacted in fury, writing, “Unreal. The attempted assassin put not only Justice Kavanaugh’s life at risk, but his family’s and his fellow justices’. Judge Boardman’s explanation for granting leniency is absurd — so, claiming you are transgender gets you less time in prison? That’s a great incentive program. What an outrageously dangerous signal to send as political violence is on the rise. This sentence is a disgrace.”

LifeNews.com fumed, “This is Judge Deborah Boardman, who was appointed by Joe Biden. She just sentenced Nicholas Roske, who tried to assassinate Justice Kavanaugh and two other justices. AG Pam Bondi asked for 30 years in prison. Because Roske now claims he’s a woman, she only gave him 8.”

Attorney General Pam Bondi announced after the sentencing, “The attempted assassination of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was a disgusting attack against our entire judicial system by a profoundly disturbed individual. @TheJusticeDept will be appealing the woefully insufficient sentence imposed by the district court, which does not reflect the horrific facts of this case.”
