The new pope firmly aligned himself with the radical “climate change” activists on Wednesday, and rebuked those who “have chosen to deride the increasingly evident signs of climate change, to ridicule those who speak of global warming.”
From the New York Times: In his first significant address on climate change, Pope Leo called on Catholics and citizens of the world on Wednesday to carry on the environmental advocacy of his predecessor, Francis, and not to treat it as a “divisive” issue.
Leo spoke at the opening ceremony of a climate conference to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Laudato Si, a groundbreaking papal document on the urgent need to protect the health of the planet. “The challenges identified in Laudato Si are in fact even more relevant today than they were 10 years ago,” he said.
“Everyone in society, through nongovernmental organizations and advocacy groups, must put pressure on governments to develop and implement more rigorous regulations, procedures and controls,” the pope declared. “Citizens need to take an active role in political decision making at national, regional and local levels. Only then will it be possible to mitigate the damage done to the environment.”
The pope’s comments came just a week after President Donald Trump said in an address to the United Nations General Assembly that “climate change was the “greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world.”
Also at the event, the pope literally “blessed” a huge chunk of ice sitting on a pedestal.
“Horrific. The whole thing. Pope Leo blesses a block of ice and then stands there while these communist freaks do some kind of weird pagan Earth worshipping hippy ritual. The leader of the Catholic Church shouldn’t be anywhere near this nonsense. What the hell are we doing here,” wrote podcast host and author Matt Walsh.

The ice-blessing act is generating widespread mockery on social media.
One X user posted a meme of the “ICE” that the pope should be blessing:
Many of us are praying for ICE too. https://t.co/cfx9yVZPqv

Christians are being persecuted all over the world and you bless and pray over a piece of ice. I’m sorry but that’s just wrong.

Here’s what President Trump said last week:
.@POTUS: In 1982, the executive director of the U.N. environmental program predicted that by the year 2000, climate change would cause a global catastrophe “irreversible as any nuclear holocaust”… these predictions were WRONG. They were made by stupid people that have cost… pic.twitter.com/rQ8h9huN6s
