FROM WASHINGTON POST: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s address to military leaders in Virginia is underway.
He began by emphasizing the dramatic change he has sought to usher in at the Pentagon. “Welcome to the War Department,” Hegseth said, “because the era of the Department of Defense is over.”
President Donald Trump issued an executive order in early September to rebrand the Defense Department as the War Department, without congressional approval.
Hegseth opened his address explaining why the U.S. military needs to prepare for war, saying those who would challenge America will be “crushed with violence.”
“In other words, to our enemies: FAFO,” Hegseth said, using an abbreviation for “f**k around, find out.”
Trump is also set to speak.
