From Fox News: The cheeseburger has been an American favorite for nearly a century, and it has its own special day.

Sept. 18 marks National Cheeseburger Day in the United States. Though the origins of the beloved dish are murky, many believe the cheeseburger was created in the 1920s before becoming an American staple in the 1940s.

The combination of grilled beef, creamy American cheese and juicy pickles on a soft bun makes it a staple from barbecues to fast-food drive-thrus.

The report then lists their pick of the top five fast-food cheeseburgers and their average cost, according to an analysis by Chowhound, as follows:

  1. Culver’s ButterBurger – $5.50
  2. Shake Shack’s ShackBurger – $8 to $11
  3. Five Guys cheeseburger – $11
  4. Wahlburger’s ‘Our Burger’ – $9 to $11
  5. McDonald’s Quarter Pounder with Cheese – $5 to $7

Readers on social media aren’t impressed with the list.

“Whoever put together that list has some serious issues,” one person declared.

Bill Stohl wrote, “I have to question these credentials as a food critic. Not only do they have McDonald’s on here but also 5 guys. Yuck. And no In & Out? Tsk tsk… Clearly, they still have effects of no taste buds of Covid. Lol.”

Another X user wrote, “Why & how could you leave off the In & Out cheeseburger?McDonald’s isn’t America’s even close!”

X user Dan James wrote, “I’m sorry, but any list that includes a McDonald’s hamburger on its “5 best” list is a joke.”
