POLL: Do you approve of Kash Patel as FBI Director so far?

Kash Patel, confirmed as FBI Director in February 2025, has had a tenure so far marked by both operational successes and significant controversies.

One of his recent highlights was leading the arrest of Tyler Robinson, the suspect in the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, with the capture occurring just 33 hours after the shooting through coordinated efforts with Utah authorities. President Trump recently praised Patel for this achievement, stating to Fox News on September 13, “I am very proud of the FBI. Kash—and everyone else—they have done a great job.”

Patel has also touted broader accomplishments, such as increased FBI arrests for violent crimes and seizures of illegal guns, emphasizing a renewed focus on public safety during his oversight. Additionally, under his leadership, the FBI has complied with congressional subpoenas and pledged to release legally permissible files, including those related to high-profile cases.

However, Patel’s handling of the Charlie Kirk investigation has also drawn sharp disappointment, particularly his premature social media announcement on September 11, claiming a suspect was in custody when that individual was later released, sparking widespread confusion and criticism from both Democrats and some conservatives. Another major letdown has been the FBI’s management of the Jeffrey Epstein files, where Patel testified this week before the Senate Judiciary Committee that there is “no credible information” Epstein trafficked victims to others, a statement that fueled accusations of obstruction and failed to satisfy demands for full transparency despite an extensive review of over 100,000 pages.

During the contentious Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Patel clashed heatedly with Democratic senators like Adam Schiff and Cory Booker, calling Schiff the “biggest fraud to ever sit in the United States Senate” amid questions about politicized firings and Epstein-related cover-ups. The hearing brought broader perceived disappointments, including a federal lawsuit from three former FBI officials alleging wrongful terminations as part of a White House-directed purge targeting agents involved in Trump investigations, which Patel denied as politically motivated. Despite Trump’s public support, these incidents have eroded confidence in Patel’s leadership for some conservatives and neutrals, with critics arguing they represent a politicization of the bureau that undermines its institutional integrity.
