FROM NBC NEWS: A man who was arrested on suspicion of capital murder is alleged to have beheaded the manager of a Dallas motel and left the victim’s head in a trash bin, court records obtained Thursday show.
When authorities took Yordanis Cobos-Martinez into custody Wednesday, he was covered in blood and armed with the machete he is accused of using to kill Chandra Nagamallaiah, 50, according to an affidavit in support of an arrest warrant.
Jail records show Cobos-Martinez, 37, is being held without bond in the Dallas County Jail on an immigration detainer. The records identify him as an undocumented immigrant.
Wednesday morning, Nagamallaiah, the motel manager, instructed Cobos-Martinez not to use a broken washing machine. Cobos-Martinez and a woman were cleaning a room when Cobos-Martinez became upset because Nagamallaiah didn’t speak to him directly.
Video captured Cobos-Martinez leaving the room, producing a machete, and repeatedly stabbing Nagamallaiah. Nagamallaiah fled to the front office, but Cobos-Martinez followed and continued cutting him. Cobos-Martinez pushed away Nagamallaiah’s wife and son and continued assaulting him.
Cobos-Martinez removed a key card and cellphone from Nagamallaiah’s pockets and continued cutting him until he was decapitated. Cobos-Martinez kicked Nagamallaiah’s head into the parking lot and put it in a dumpster.
Cobos-Martinez admitted to the killing in an interview with authorities.
The situation drew the attention of President Donald J. Trump. He posted the following message: “ I am aware of the terrible reports regarding the murder of Chandra Nagamallaiah, a well respected person in Dallas, Texas, who was brutally beheaded, in front of his wife and son, by an ILLEGAL ALIEN from Cuba who should have never been in our Country. This individual was previously arrested for terrible crimes, including child sex abuse, grand theft auto, and false imprisonment, but was released back into our Homeland under incompetent Joe Biden because Cuba did not want such an evil person in their Country. Rest assured, the time for being soft on these Illegal Immigrant Criminals is OVER under my watch!
