Beautiful Feet for a Lost World

“How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!’”

— Romans 10:14-15 (NKJV)

How can someone believe in Christ if they haven’t heard about Him? The answer, of course, is that they can’t. According to GotQuestions.org, this passage underscores the fact that people won’t hear the gospel unless it is preached to them. This is why the call to missions and evangelism is so vital.

The Mission and the Messenger

There are countless individuals in remote areas, bustling cities, and even our own communities who have never truly heard the message of Christ’s salvation.

A missionary, whether going to a distant land or ministering in their local community, is someone called by God with a burning desire to see people saved. They are willing to go, to teach, and even to translate the Bible into new languages, bringing the hope of Christ to those who are lost.

The phrase “how beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace” from Isaiah 52:7, quoted by Paul in Romans 10:15, highlights the joy and significance of sharing the good news. The beauty isn’t in the physical appearance of the feet, but in the message they carry – a message of salvation, peace, and hope.

Our Role in the Great Commission

Everyone is Called: While some are specifically called to be missionaries in distant lands, every believer is called to be a missionary at heart. We each have a mission field around us – our families, friends, neighbors, and coworkers.

Evangelism is about sharing the love of God with gentleness and respect. We are to be ambassadors for Christ, letting our lives and our words reflect the hope we have in Him.

Everyone can play a part in supporting those who are sent. We can contribute through prayer, financial support, and encouragement, partnering in the vital work of spreading the Gospel to the ends of the earth.

Are you embracing your calling to be a missionary? The world needs to hear the good news of Jesus, and God has chosen to use us to deliver that message.

Heavenly Father, Thank you for the privilege of knowing you and the gift of salvation. Stir our hearts with a passion for the lost, and help us to be obedient to your call to share the Gospel. Whether we go or we send, may our lives bring glory to your name and spread your message of peace and hope to all who need to hear it. Amen.
