Two profound verses from the Bible are a great comfort this Sunday morning.
Psalm 46:1 – “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
This verse was posted on X by Erika Kirk Wednesday morning, just about 90 minutes before her husband, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, was killed by an assassin’s bullet at an event in Utah.
Perhaps the Lord gave her a message of comfort and strength, before she even knew she would need it so desperately.

Another beautiful verse was shared by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth in a post on X Saturday afternoon.
Psalm 27:1 – “The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?”

What a precious reminder that the Lord is our refuge and strength, as well as our light and salvation! No matter what happens, this truth will not change… and the most important thing we can do in life is just to simply point others to Jesus.
In times of trouble and heartache, we can turn to God in full confidence that He knows our pain and our struggles, and He WILL NEVER FAIL US. He will give us strength and grace, and He knows when we need it the most, even before we do.
“Heavenly Father, we know there is no comforter like You can be to us, there is no refuge but You, there is no light but You, and there is no Salvation but through Your mercy and the shed blood of Jesus. Help us to lean on You today, and to wait in patience and humility for You to direct our steps, our words, and our choices. For Jesus’ sake we ask. Amen.”
