FROM DAILY MAIL: A huge manhunt is underway in north Georgia after a veteran police officer was shot in the throat. The shooting happened in McCaysville, a small town that borders Tennessee.

Brantley Worley, a captain with the McCaysville Police Department, was shot on Friday at 11:10pm while responding to a 911 call.

The suspect has been identified as 26-year-old Timothy Craig Ramsey, who police say is still on the run. No details about what led to the shooting have been released.

Worley was airlifted to a nearby hospital in Chattanooga and is alive but in critical condition as of Saturday morning. His wife, Jessica, said she was with him and vowed to stay by his side until he returns home.

The search for Ramsey has been assisted by multiple local, state, and federal agencies, including the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations.

Ramsey is described as a 5’11” white male weighing approximately 185 pounds. He has long blonde hair and blue eyes.
