President Trump posted a four-minute video on Truth Social from the Oval Office, addressing the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.
In the video, Trump expressed profound grief and anger, describing Kirk as a patriot who inspired millions through his commitment to open debate and love for America. He acknowledged Kirk’s deep faith, suggesting he is now at peace with God, and offered prayers for Kirk’s wife, Erika, and their two young children during this time of heartache.
Trump called the killing a “dark moment for America,” emphasizing Kirk’s role as a model for truth and freedom, particularly among youth. He blamed the “radical left” for the attack, claiming their rhetoric, which he said compares conservatives to Nazis and criminals, directly fuels such violence. Trump vowed that his administration would pursue justice against those responsible, including organizations that support political violence. He urged Americans and the media to confront the consequences of demonizing political opponents, stating that such rhetoric must stop.
The video followed Trump’s earlier Truth Social posts mourning Kirk’s death and ordering flags to be flown at half-staff. Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was shot in the neck during a campus event, and no suspect is currently in custody. The address underscored Trump’s personal admiration for Kirk, calling him “loved and admired by all.”
