BREAKING: Charlie Kirk’s condition updated

FROM FOX NEWS: Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, is reportedly listed in critical condition after being shot at an event in Utah on Wednesday.

A law enforcement official told The Associated Press that Kirk was listed in critical condition at a Utah hospital.

Videos posted to social media from Utah Valley University show Kirk speaking into a microphone while sitting under a white tent when a shot rings out.


There are mixed reports about a suspect. Fox News reported that a suspect was in custody shortly after the shooting.

“Ellen Treanor, associate vice president of strategic communication management at Utah Valley University, told Fox News Digital shots were fired at Charlie Kirk from a building about 200 yards from the tent where he was speaking,” the outlet reported. “Treanor told Fox News Digital Kirk was ‘immediately’ taken away from campus by his security team following the shooting[…]They have not yet been publicly identified.”

Later, NBC News reported, “Authorities do not have a suspect in custody, according to Utah Valley University spokesperson Ellen Treanor.”

Florida Voice News Assistant News Director Eric Daugherty posted a video on X captioned, “This is reportedly the man who shot Charlie Kirk on a Utah campus. Police have arrested him.”

FBI Director Kash Patel said agents were heading to the scene.

“We are closely monitoring reports of the tragic shooting involving Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University,” Patel said in a post on X. “Our thoughts are with Charlie, his loved ones, and everyone affected. Agents will be on the scene quickly and the FBI stands in full support of the ongoing response and investigation.”

NBC News reports that a spokesperson for Turning Point USA confirmed that Kirk was shot.

“He is in the hospital, and we are praying for him at this time,” the organization said.

The Utah Valley University campus is closed and classes are canceled until further notice, the school said in an X post.

“Police are investigating. Leave campus immediately. Follow police instructions,” it added.

Attorney General Pam Bondi reacted to the shooting, saying, “FBI and ATF agents are on the scene. PRAY FOR CHARLIE.”

She embedded the post from Patel.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary posted on X: “Bryon and I are lifting up Charlie, Erika, and their family in our prayers right now,” referring to her husband, Byron.

Vice President JD Vance shared a photo of himself with Kirk, joined by Donald Trump Jr. and political aide Andy Surabian.

“Dear God, protect Charlie in his darkest hour,” Vance captioned the photo.

President Donald J. Trump posted a similar message about the shooting on Truth Social.

“We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot,” he wrote. “A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!”
