REPORT: Liberal outlet Trots Out ‘GOP Pounces’ Angle In Story About Stabbing Death Of Charlotte Refugee

A career criminal stabbed an innocent woman to death on a train in Charlotte, North Carolina… and one liberal media outlet has brazenly reacted by stabbing Trump supporters in the back.

From the Daily CallerAxios came under scrutiny Monday for accusing supporters of President Donald Trump of using the brutal murder of a Ukrainian refugee in Charlotte, North Carolina, to suggest that crime is getting worse.

Surveillance footage released on Friday showed DeCarlos Brown, a homeless ex-convict with 14 prior court cases, fatally stabbing 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska on a light rail train on Aug. 22. After the media largely ignored this tragic incident, Axios published the piece, “Stabbing video fuels MAGA’s crime message,” to suggest that “MAGA influencers” are using this surveillance footage to draw “repeated attention” to violent crime.

“MAGA influencers are drawing repeated attention to violent attacks to elevate the issue of urban crime — and accuse mainstream media of under-covering shocking cases … The rising number of surveillance cameras in public spaces, including on Charlotte’s light rail, has become a big accelerant in these cases,” Axios’ Marc Caputo wrote. “The video is easily shared or leaked, and can instantly pollinate across social media — a visual counterpoint to statistics showing crime decreases.”

Caputo highlighted remarks made by tech billionaire Elon Musk, White House deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller, Republican Utah Sen. Mike Lee and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. The article also argued that Republican North Carolina Senate candidate Michael Whatley “invoked” the horrific stabbing to go after Democratic North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper for being “soft on crime.”

Axios is being blasted over their report.

The Trump Rapid Response Team fired back, “This scumbag had no fewer than 14 prior arrests — many for violent crimes — and was released WITHOUT BOND by a liberal judge in a Democrat city. He then went on to commit a brutal murder of an innocent woman in public view. “MAGA” is not the problem here.”

Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer wrote, “Now tell me how the media, including all the TV networks, covered Daniel Perry, a white Marine, who killed a homeless guy on a NYC subway while the guy was menacing fellow passengers? And the media wonders why they’re not trusted to tell the truth.”

DeSantis spokesperson Christina Pushaw wrote “I don’t think it’s “MAGA influencers” elevating the issue of violent urban crime. The violent urban criminal who stabbed a girl on camera did that all on his own.”

X user Matt Van Swol pointed out the vast difference in how Axios responded to the death of drug user George Floyd.

X user Kevin wrote, “So your take on this story is that you finally covered it because “MAGA influencers” are seeking to elevate the issue of violent urban crime? It’s not that the offender had been arrested more than a dozen times, including for violent crimes? It’s not that he murdered an innocent stranger in cold blood?”

Shawn Farash wrote, “That’s because it IS being under-covered. There were statues built for a fentanyl addict. Not a WORD has been said about this innocent woman. And EVERYONE knows why that is.”

Walter Hudson blasted Axios, writing, “Making the story about the reaction instead of the story is vile and transparent.
“MAGA noticed…”
“Republicans pounce…”
It’s not journalism. It’s partisan propaganda.”

David McIntosh wrote, “Axios, in an absolute race to the bottom, becomes one of the first left leaning outlets to write a story about the brutal murder of Iryna Zarutska – and they blame CCTV cameras and conservatives.”

Curtis Houck wrote, “How dare people be outraged a brutal murder occurred and the perpetrator should have long ago been locked up.”
