MORNING DEVOTION (August 4)

Proverbs 2:1-5

1 My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
2 turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding—
3 indeed, if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.

Commentary from Anneta:  This scripture caused me to do a little self-examination…

If I really accept God’s word, I should be “storing up” His commandments WITHIN me. If I’m turning to His wisdom, I should be APPLYING my heart to understanding God’s wisdom… and most of all… if I truly want wisdom from God, am I really seeking for it with the same purpose and desperation as I would be searching for hidden treasure?

So often we pour our whole heart and every ounce of our strength into achieving something natural, but then treat our relationship with God so casually.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to have more love for You today, and to seek Your wisdom with our WHOLE heart.
