In recent elections, Democrats lost support from young people, and now they are grasping at straws in an attempt to reel them back in.
A “Voters of Tomorrow Summit” was held in Washington, D.C. Friday afternoon for young voters, and defeated 2024 Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris was touted as one of the main speakers who would be delivering closing remarks.
Harris lost support with young voters in the 2024 election, and was defeated by President Donald Trump in a massive landslide.
Even the liberal outlet, NPR, admitted one day after the November election, “Young voters were part of President Biden’s winning coalition four years ago. But early exit polling this year seems to paint a different picture, with Harris receiving comparatively less support.”
Harris did not show up in person for the event, but instead sent a video to be played to the audience, which lasted a whopping 1 minute and 44 seconds.
The organizer who “introduced” Harris did not even mention her name, but simply said they would play “special remarks from a special guest” and noted the speaker is from California.
“Your generation has grown up on the frontlines of so many crisis… from Covid and the climate crisis, to gun violence and mental health,” Harris claimed in her recorded speech. She declared that “we need to invest in your generation.”
Harris’ virtual speech was met with a weak round of applause from what sounded like about a dozen people clapping.
Other speakers at the event intended to convince young people to vote for Democrats included former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, 85, who has served in Congress since 1987.
Ahead of Harris’ speech, gun control activist David Hogg took the stage and declared its time for new leadership in the Democratic Party. Hogg is also the co-founder of the radical activist group, Leaders We Deserve, which seeks to replace older Democrats with young progressives.
Hogg said for Democrats to re-take control, they shouldn’t just be concerned with beating Republicans, but replacing their own leaders as well.
He also made a pitch for Democrat socialist muslim candidate Zohran Mamdani to be elected as Mayor of New York City.
Based on photos posted to social media, the crowd at the Voters of Tomorrow Summit was estimated to be about 150-200 people. Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk mocked the event by posting comparison photos from a TPUSA event.
Fox News shared a clip from the event, as one speaker desperately tried to pump some energy into the small crowd. However, it didn’t appear to work:
