From Fox News: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced visa restrictions on a Brazilian judge after the country’s Supreme Court issued search warrants and restraining orders against former President Jair Bolsonaro.
Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, his unspecified allies on the court and his immediate family members will face visa revocations, according to Rubio, who criticized what he called a “political witch hunt” against the former president.
In a post on X Friday, Rubio announced, “.@POTUS made clear that his administration will hold accountable foreign nationals who are responsible for censorship of protected expression in the United States. Brazilian Supreme Federal Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes’s political witch hunt against Jair Bolsonaro created a persecution and censorship complex so sweeping that it not only violates basic rights of Brazilians, but also extends beyond Brazil’s shores to target Americans.”
“I have therefore ordered visa revocations for Moraes and his allies on the court, as well as their immediate family members effective immediately.”

This comes after Brazilian authorities raided Bolsonaro’s home on Friday and put on ankle monitor on the former president in a shocking move.
Details from Reuters: Brazil’s Supreme Court issued search warrants and restraining orders against former President Jair Bolsonaro on Friday, banning him from contacting foreign officials over allegations he had courted the interference of U.S. President Donald Trump.
Federal police raided Bolsonaro’s home and put an ankle monitor on him, an escalation in the legal pressure he is already facing and that Trump has tried to relieve with a steep tariff on Brazilian goods. Bolsonaro told Reuters that he believed the court orders were a reaction to Trump’s criticism of his trial before the Supreme Court.

Carlos Bolsonaro, one of Jair Bolsonaro’s sons, posted the following statement on Saturday:
– While Brazil sinks into an authoritarianism disguised as legality, any banana republic puts on a display of democracy in comparison.
Persecution of opponents, institutionalized censorship, a press bought with billions in advertising, and a Judiciary that chooses targets, dates, and narratives according to the system’s convenience. All under the pretext of “protecting democracy” – while democracy itself is hollowed out day by day.
– There is no longer a balance between the Powers, and anyone who dares to question this arrangement is treated as an enemy of the State.
– Brazil has become a laboratory for social and political control, and the people – who should be the center of sovereignty – have become targets of manipulation, surveillance, and forced silence.
– Meanwhile, countries that were once the butt of jokes on the geopolitical stage now guarantee more freedom of expression, alternation of power, and institutional respect than Brazil.
– Sad irony: the “banana republic” is us.
– Enquanto o Brasil se afunda num autoritarismo disfarçado de legalidade, qualquer republiqueta de bananas dá um show de democracia em comparação.

Another son, Eduardo Bolsonaro, is currently living in the United States for his own safety.
“Moraes prohibited @jairbolsonaro from speaking with ambassadors. But don’t worry, the head of the ambassadors here at the State Department (MRE) is aware of all this – and Moraes can’t do anything about it,” he wrote.
Moraes proibiu @jairbolsonaro de falar com embaixadores. Mas não se preocupe, o chefe dos embaixadores aqui no State Departament (MRE) está ciente disso tudo – e Moraes não pode fazer nada.

What is happening to Jair Bolsonaro is a grave injustice. I know the Bolsonaro family and I support the Trump administration and all they can do to help secure freedom and liberty for the people of Brazil. https://t.co/uroOwUAuJU
