From the New York Post: The man accused of murdering “American Idol” executive Robin Kaye and her husband was a “junkie” who terrified neighbors — and had multiple previous arrests, including for battery.

Raymond Boodarian, 22, lived just 13 minutes from the $4.5 million Encino home where 70-year-old Kaye and her husband were executed during a suspected break-in last week.

“We had a lot of problems with him because he’s taking drugs. Every now and then he would be outside high,” said 80-year-old Madlen Amrani. “The neighbors complained and they come and arrest him.”

Boodarian would also bring other junkies around and get high with them on the block.

The Los Angeles Police Department released a statement announcing Boodarian’s arrest and explained that they now believe the attack was actually in progress when they were first called to the area over reports of a suspicious person seen climbing over a wall.

The statement reads, in part:

On July 14, 2025, around 2:30 p.m., West Valley Division officers received a radio call for a Welfare Check in the 4700 block of White Oak Avenue. The person reporting had not heard from the resident for several days. Police made entry into the residence and discovered both victims deceased. A crime scene was established, and Operations-Valley Bureau Homicide (OVBH) investigators responded.

The victims were identified as 70-year-old Thomas Deluca and 70-year-old Robin Kaye, who resided at the location.

Homicide investigators interviewed friends and family, reviewed numerous surveillance videos, and recovered evidence of a homicide at scene. It was discovered that a prior radio call had been generated for a possible burglary suspect at the residence on July 10, 2025, around 4:00 p.m. While there were no signs of forced entry or trouble at the location during that investigation, it is now believed that the suspect had gained entry into the residence through an unlocked door. The victims returned home while the suspect was inside their residence, and a confrontation ensued, which resulted in the suspect taking their lives. The victims succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, and the suspect fled from the residence on foot.

Homicide investigators worked diligently through the night and identified the suspect as 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian, a resident of Encino.

According to NBC Los Angeles, Boodarian was arrested and jailed last year on suspicion of threat, weapons, and battery charges. However, he was then set free following a mental health exam. NBC writes:

In December, a judge dismissed the cases against 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian after a mental health evaluation was completed, and the court records indicated he was placed in a conservatorship, which puts another adult in charge of major decisions in a person’s life if they’ve been diagnosed with a severe mental disorder.

The nature of the evaluation’s findings are not public, and the court records indicated Boodarian was released from jail.

The Daily Mail also reported on Boodarian’s dark past, and quoting neighbors who said they were afraid of him.

A neighbor who lived next door said sometimes the violence coming from the other side was so bad she was afraid he was going to break the walls and come through to her side. The Daily Mail wrote:

‘The cops have been here in the past,’ the neighbor added. ‘The mother’s called and said “I can’t control him.”‘

The neighbor claimed that on at least one occasion, he had to be strapped to a stretcher and removed from the property.

‘They’re always repairing the unit inside. I don’t know if he bangs his head or if he throws things, I don’t know, but it’s usually really loud.

‘He can get really violent. And I don’t know if he’s throwing furniture or if he’s banging with his fist on the wall, but he has actually broken the drywall.’

The neighbor alleged that on one occasion he ‘broke a couple of his mom’s ribs,’ though she did not elaborate on the alleged incident.

The Daily Mail said neighbors described his mother, Sadjbibi, a ‘friendly.’

Uber driver Adin Mozafari, the ex-boyfriend of Boodarian’s mother, who shares an 18-year-old daughter with Sadjbibi, reportedly appeared horrified when he learned of the murders.

No information has been provided on Boodarian’s citizenship status, and a current mugshot has not yet been released. Local media released an old photo of Boodarian when he was a child.
