1 Peter 4:8-10

And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

Use hospitality one to another without grudging.

10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

[King James version]

Commentary by Anneta G.

Seeing the complete devastation and massive loss of life in the Texas flooding is beyond heartbreaking, just as it is with many other natural disasters.

But there’s something inspiring and heartwarming too, and that’s the spirit of service by those reaching out to help, from both the search and rescue workers, to members of the community and others joining in to do what they can.

It’s the spirit of service to other human beings. It’s an instinct God gave us to care for others, to want to help others in need.  It’s in times like this that no one asks about political affiliation, personal history, level of success or status… they simply are seeking to serve, to help, to care.

Maybe if the world had more of the spirit of a servant on a daily basis, we’d have a lot less problems.  Let’s read the verses above one more time, then listen to the song below.
