From BreitbartTomorrow, New York City will vote to decide who will be the Democrat nominee for mayor, and the latest polling shows Queens Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani, a full-blown, self-admitted socialist, in the lead due to the city’s ranked-choice voting system.

In the first-choice vote, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo leads Mamdani 36 percent to 34 percent. That should be that, but in the insane ranked-choice system (an election system which has kept Alaska’s Lisa Murkowski in the U.S. Senate), if no candidate reaches 50 percent, the race moves to round two where the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated and their votes are distributed based on the second choices made by voters. This continues, round after round, until someone hits above 50 percent.

In other words, Andrew Cuomo might have a plurality of support in round one, but if more voters choose Mamdani as their second choice than choose Cuomo, then Mamdani gets more votes from the person eliminated.

According to this poll, that’s what’s happening, so Mamdani is more likely to win.

And should Mamdani win, he would make former Democrat Mayor Bill DeBlasio look like Barry Goldwater. Mamdani is a bona fide socialist who has promised disastrous rent freezes, despises Israel, would almost certainly kill any kind of school reform or choice, tie the hands of the police, and is anti-business.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Zohran Mamdani, 33, was born in Uganda to parents of Indian heritage. The family reportedly moved to Cape Town, South Africa when he was 5 years old, then moved to New York City when he was 7 years old. He only became an American citizen in 2018. He is a Shia Muslim.

Mamdani has been a New York State lawmaker since January 2021. He is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, and ran on the issues of statewide rent control, fare-free transit, ending mass incarceration, and single-payer healthcare in New York. He is also a member of the Muslim Democratic Club of New York, and one of three Muslim lawmakers in the New York State Legislature.

Now Mamdani wants to be mayor of New York City – the largest city in the United States, with over 8.4 million people. His platform includes support for a rent freeze, free buses, and city-owned grocery stores in New York City. He also wants to create free, universal childcare for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years old, as well as increasing the wages for childcare workers, and give parents free diapers and other baby supplies.

Mamdani also wants to dismantle “mass incarceration” in New York, eliminate the New York prison system, and allow felons to vote.

The Democrat Socialist muslim also reportedly wants to raise the minimum wage in New York to $30 per hour by 2030…. and eliminate bus fares in the city.

Zohran Mamdani has barely ever had a job, with just 3 years in the workforce — including his ‘rap career’ and a gig for his mom
From the New York Post: Zohran Mamdani has barely ever held a job, admitted he’s a nepo baby and has no experience in local government, The Post has learned.

New York City Mayor candidate Mamdani – who has lived most of his life in subsidized housing – failed in his attempts to be a rapper, musician and managing previous political campaigns.

An analysis of the 33-year-old’s work history shows he has been employed for only approximately three years in the time between graduating college in 2014 and being elected to the New York State Assembly in 2020.

Behind the shiny social media posts of the progressive upstart there is little substance and no proof of success, critics point out.

Below is a timeline and several highlights from Mamdani’s “resume”:

  • 1991 – Born in Uganda
  • 1996 – Family moved to Cape Town, South Africa
  • 1998 – Family immigrated to New York City
  • 2014 – He graduated college with a bachelor’s degree in Africana studies
  • 2014 – Worked as an organizer for advocacy group MoveOn in Seattle four months.
  • 2014 – Worked at TexPIRG, an advocacy group in Texas for two months
  • 2015 – Volunteered on Ali Najmi’s campaign in the 2015 special election for New York City’s 23rd City Council district
  • 2015 – Worked as music supervisor on “Queen of Katwe,” a Hollywood film about a chess prodigy
  • 2016 – Pursued a career as a rapper in his native Uganda
  • 2017 – Joined the Democrat Socialists for America organization
  • 2017-2019 – Worked on multiple campaigns for other Democrat Socialists candidates in New York City
  • 2018 – Became a U.S. citizen
  • 2019 – Launched his own campaign for New York State Assembly
  • 2019 – Won the seat as a New York state lawmaker in Nov. 2020 with no Republican opposition. Re-elected in 2022 and 2024.
  • 2025 – Married Syrian artist Rama Duwaji. The two reportedly live in a rent-stabilized apartment in Astoria.

Liena Zagare, editor of The Bigger Apple newsletter at the Manhattan Institute said in a statement to the NY Post,  “Mamdani’s running a campaign full of slogans, crowds, and big promises—but he’s never managed a budget, run a large agency or had to deliver results in real time.

ENDORSED BY SQUAD REP ALEXANDRIA OCASIO-CORTEZ (D-NY).  (Also a Democrat Socialist.)

ENDORSED BY FAR-LEFT DEMOCRAT NY ATTORNEY GENERAL LETITIA JAMES:

ENDORSED BY UNITED AUTO WORKERS UNION IN NYC – because, after all, he’s promising them a $30 minimum wage, plus “free transit, housing for all, and real democracy.”
