REPORT: GOP Firebrand Explains Why She ‘Might Be Forced To Run’ For Governor

From the Daily Caller: Republican South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace is weighing a potential bid for governor in her state’s 2026 election, hinting that her decision on running may come soon, she told the Daily Caller in an exclusive interview Saturday.

“We’ll make a decision I hope pretty soon. I’m thinking about it and praying about it,” Mace told the Caller at Turning Point USA’s Young Women’s Leadership Summit. “The system is so broken there I might be forced to run.”

Since February, Mace has been at odds with South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, criticizing his inaction on prosecuting sex crimes — particularly in relation to video recordings she says were taken of her and other women without their consent by her ex-fiancé.

Mace cited deep frustrations with what she views as systemic failures in the state’s justice system as one motivator for seeking her state’s highest office.

In a post on X Monday, Mace wrote, “Alan Wilson wants you to believe he’s tough on crime, but when it came to prosecuting a predator with child p*rn of toddlers, he blinked. Dropped almost all charges. Cut a deal. 1 day in jail. Then went on TV to act like nothing happened. South Carolina is so done with p*dophile protectors.”

Mace had also told OANN host Matt Gaetz last month that she is seriously considering a run for governor of South Carolina.

On May 30, Mace declared, “South Carolina’s broken justice system won’t be fixed by the same insiders who helped break it, like the Lt. Governor and Attorney General. What we need isn’t more backroom politics. We need a true outsider, someone beholden only to the people.”
