From CBS News: Law enforcement officials are searching for 57-year-old Vance Luther Boelter in the shootings of two Minnesota politicians and their spouses early Saturday morning.

Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were shot and killed in their Brooklyn Park home, while state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife were shot and wounded. Both lawmakers were members of the Democratic Party, representing the northwest corner of the Twin Cities.

According to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Boelter stands at 6-foot-1, weighs roughly 220 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen Saturday morning in Minneapolis, wearing a light-colored cowboy hat, dark long-sleeve shirt, light pants and carrying a dark bag.

If anyone sees Boelter, officials urge people not to approach him, and to call 911. He should be considered “armed and dangerous,” Superintendent Drew Evans with the Minnesota BCA said. Evans added that investigators believe Boelter is working to leave the Twin Cities area.

Indicating there is a possibility Boelter did not act alone, Evans said, “We still don’t know if additional people are involved, but this individual is the one that we’re looking as a person of interest right now. But there may be other people with him and we would like to speak to anybody that may have had contact with him at any point in time.”

Officials released new photos of Boelter during a press conference Saturday afternoon, and then posted the photos on social media.

Since the shooting, he is believed to have changed clothes and is attempting to flee.  At the time of the shooting earlier Saturday morning, he was wearing a police uniform.

Boelter has an extensive background. He’s literally been all over the place, working in a number of different industries and locations. Police would not confirm specific details at their latest press briefing, but acknowledged that much of the information has been circulating on social media.

Boelter, 57, was appointed by Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz in 2019 to serve a limited term on the Governor’s Workforce Development Board, according to public records.  His term for the position was from December 14, 2019 through January 2, 2023.

Boelter also served on the Governor’s Workforce Development Council in 2016 under then-Gov. Mark Dayton.

MORE on Boelter’s background from MPRNews.org:

According to Boelter’s LinkedIn page, he is listed as the CEO of Red Lion Group, which is based in Congo, and he’s listed as a part of the leadership team at Praetorian Guard Security, which provides armed home security in the Twin Cities area.

It appears in the past, he’d worked in food production for several companies, including Del Monte and Nestle.

According to his bio on Praetorian Guard Security Boelter worked security situations in Eastern Europe, Africa, North America and the Middle East “including the West Bank, southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.”

The bio says he was trained by both private security firms and “by people in the U.S. Military.”

The company website also said security officers drive “police type vehicles,” wear “protective equipment” and only offer “armed security.” The website also featured an SUV resembling a police vehicle.

Journalist Kyle Becker shared the following:

SCOOP: Vance Luther Boelter, the alleged suspect in the shooting of two Minnesota Democratic state lawmakers and their spouses, was CEO of a U.S. government subsidized private protection agency known as Red Lions Group.

Red Lions Group received over $20,000 in small business loans under the SBA program. Boelter is listed as the CEO of Red Lions Group, which was active in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is highlighted on the Minnesota African Union website.

The Minnesota African Union website states that it is “a statewide umbrella organization that is focused on the wellbeing of the immigrant community.”

Former Minnesota state house leader Melissa Hortman, a Democrat, was shot and k*lled in a “politically motivated” shooting that took place after she was the lone Democratic House lawmaker to vote against illegal aliens receiving healthcare funding.

Boelter was reportedly appointed as a member of the Governor’s Workforce Development Council by former Minnesota governor Mark Dayton, a Democratic-Farmer-Labor Union member.

“No Kings” rally flyers were found in his car, according to reports by the Minnesota State Patrol.

Boelter also appears to have worked in South Dakota, according to another LinkedIn post that has now been taken down – but screenshots live forever!
