MORNING DEVOTION (June 5)

3

“This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:3-7)

Commentary from Kat L.

We enter fellowship with God first through Jesus, then with repentance, faith, and prayer.

First, we accept the Gospel message, that Jesus is “the way, the truth, and the life.” We respond with repentance and faith, which we accomplish through prayer. Then, we enter into fellowship with the Father.

John says that if we have fellowship with God, we can’t walk in darkness. If we do, we are liars. To truly have fellowship with Him, we must walk in the light.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your grace, mercy, and provision. Forgive us for our sins – our dark thoughts and deeds. Help us to walk in your light. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
