From Breitbart: The Washington Post retracted a story Tuesday that repeated fake news, disseminated by Hamas, claiming that Israeli troops had opened fire on Palestinians seeking food from an American-run aid site in Gaza.
As Breitbart News noted, many mainstream media outlets simply ran claims by Hamas, which is seeking to discredit the ongoing aid effort by the Trump administration-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF).
The GHF effort circumvents the United Nations (UN) and hence Hamas, which relies on stealing UN aid shipments to resupply its terrorists and to profit by forcing desperate Palestinians to pay for “free” aid.
After GHF and the Israeli military both denied that any such shooting took place, U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee demanded that mainstream media outlets retract their false reporting about the alleged incident.
The Washington Post, CNN and other liberal news outlets had pushed out the false claim that Israel had fired on the crowd of Palestinians at the aid distribution site.
The claims were pushed out just prior to the anti-semitic terror attack in Boulder, Colorado Sunday afternoon, prompting many people to voice concerns that the false reports may have contributed to the Boulder attack.
Now the Washington Post has caved in and deleted their post on X and revised their report.
The Post released the following statement:
Correction: We’ve deleted the post below because it and early versions of the article didn’t meet Post fairness standards.
The background: Early versions of the article on Sunday stated that Israeli troops had killed more than 30 people near a U.S. aid site in Gaza, with the headline attributing the action to “health officials.”
The article failed to make clear if attributing the deaths to Israel was the position of the Gaza health ministry or a fact verified by The Post. The article and headline were updated on Sunday evening making it clear that there was no consensus about who was responsible for the shootings and that there was a dispute over that question.
While statements from Israel that it was unaware of injuries and that an initial inquiry indicated its soldiers didn’t fire at civilians near the site were included in all versions, The Post didn’t give proper weight to Israel’s denial and gave improper certitude about what was known about any Israeli role in the shootings. The early versions fell short of Post standards of fairness and should not have been published in that form.

The Washington Post is not getting off that easy, and conservatives are still blasting the liberal outlet.
Brian Hegseth, who is Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s father, scolded, “Millions read headlines; few see “retractions”. You decided to take Hamas at their word.”

“Just to be clear, you deleted an article that didn’t meet Post fairness standards, but why was it published to begin with?” demanded Kevin Dalton.

Your article did exactly what you wanted to do. Your goal was to put the Jewish people in the worst light possible. You did just that. It is comments like yours that caused 12 Jews to be attacked and burned. Your insincere apology is not accepted.

TRANSLATION: We at the @washingtonpost had no idea that evidence existed to directly contradict the word of a Hamas spokesperson. Had we been aware of such evidence prior to publishing, we would’ve used more ambiguous wording that, while factually correct, would’ve allowed us to…

Maybe stop regurgitating Hamas propaganda without any verification? “Gaza Health Ministry” is Hamas.
