From the Daily Caller: Freed Israeli hostage Omer Shem Tov revealed to CNN on Wednesday that the terrorist group Hamas, who had held him captive, said they wanted former Vice President Kamala Harris to win the 2024 presidential election.
Before his January inauguration, President Donald Trump had been vocal about securing the release of all hostages taken by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023, eventually brokering an initial deal that month. While speaking to CNN about his time in captivity, Shem Tov said the group frequently discussed politics and made clear they wanted Harris as the next president.
“As soon as Donald Trump was elected, they understood that he wants to bring the hostages back home,” Shem Tov said.
Before entering the 2024 race as the Democratic presidential nominee, Harris had reportedly urged former President Joe Biden to take a more sympathetic stance toward Gaza and the Palestinians just months after Hamas attacked Israel.
Omer Shem Tov, 22, was kidnapped when Hamas terrorists stormed the Nova music festival during the Oct. 7, 2023 attack on Israel. He was finally freed along with 5 others on February 22, a month after President Trump was inaugurated.
Since his release, Shem Tov and other freed hostages met with President Trump in March and pushed for him to help get the remaining hostages released.
Shem Tov said the Hamas terrorists starved him for the majority of the time he was held captive, only giving him one biscuit a day, along with salty water to drink. He lost 50 pounds, going from about 170 pounds down to 120 pounds.
He said the Hamas terrorists were “very scared” of President Trump, and as soon as Trump was elected, they started treating him better, and giving him more food.

Describing a meeting with Shem Tov in April, Yossi Farro wrote: “Held in captivity for over 500 days, yet never lost his faith. He told me he recited Psalm 20 every day — and when he was finally freed, he learned his mother had been reciting the exact same chapter for him the whole time.”
