From People.com: Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson has died. He was 79.

The reality star’s daughter-in-law Korie Robertson — who is married to Willie Robertson — shared the news in a Facebook post on Sunday, May 25, months after his family revealed in December that he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

Korie’s Facebook post reads:

We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord. He reminded us often of the words of Paul, “you do not grieve like those who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.”

Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life saved by grace, his bold faith, and by his desire to tell everyone who would listen the Good News of Jesus. We are grateful for his life on earth and will continue the legacy of love for God and love for others until we see him again.

We know so many of you love him and have been impacted by his life. We’re having a private service for now, but we’ll share details soon about a public celebration of his life.

In a separate post on X, Robertson’s son, Jase Robertson, announced, “My dad has gone to be with the Lord today! He will be missed but we know he is in good hands, and our family is good because God is very good! We will see him again!”

Phil Robertson was the founder of the Duck Commander Company, and starred on “Duck Dynasty” from 2012 to 2017.

More from PEOPLE.COM: Duck Dynasty aired on A&E and followed members of the Robertson family — including Phil and Kay Robertson, alongside three of their sons, Jase, Willie and Jep, plus several grandchildren and a few of their employees as they worked together at their family business, Duck Commander.

The series ended in 2017 after 11 seasons, though it spawned various spinoffs, including Going Si-Ral, Jep & Jessica: Growing the Dynasty, At Home with the Robertsons and Duck Family Treasure. A&E announced in January that the show would return to the network as Duck Dynasty: The Revival.

Below is a super-short speech Robertson gave at a Trump rally in November 2019:

Evangelical leader Franklin Graham posted the following message on Facebook:

Please join me in praying for Miss Kay and all of the Robertson family as Phil Robertson has passed away. Now he is in the presence of his Lord and Savior. I always appreciated that Phil stood firm with the Word of God and took every opportunity to talk about his faith in Jesus Christ.

He and some of his family came to encourage the wounded veterans and their spouses at our Samaritan’s Purse Operation Heal Our Patriots program in Alaska back in 2014, and he came to the Billy Graham Library to speak on two occasions. There’s no question, he will be greatly missed. May God especially comfort all of the family during this time.

Below are just some of the many tributes pouring in on social media:

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders wrote, “Phil Robertson was a living example of what God can do in all of our lives if we follow Him. He was a bright light for the world to see. Bryan and I are praying for the whole Robertson crew tonight.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson: “We’re praying for the Robertson family tonight & grateful for the extraordinary legacy of one of Louisiana’s favorite sons. We can’t know this side of Heaven how countless many people were impacted for eternity by Phil’s life & ministry. (Rom. 8:38-39).”

Jason Howerton shared a profound experience:

I’m pretty devastated to hear Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson passed away. I was lucky enough to write and shoot a video with him years ago. It was hilarious.

But one thing he told me I’ve never forgotten and think about all the time… When I told him I was expecting my first son, he paused and asked me if he could give me some unsolicited advice.

“Of course,” I said.

“Let your son see you love his mother,” he replied.

Then his face turned DEADLY serious.

“I mean, let him see you really love her.”

He didn’t break eye contact for an uncomfortable amount of time to really make sure I understood. In retrospect, this was phenomenal advice that only became more true as time went on.  RIP, Phil 🙏

In a podcast in July of last year, Robertson delivered some good advice: “Do small things, instead of just hunting greatness.”
