Elias Rodriguez, 31, the man arrested in the deadly shooting of a young couple outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, DC Wednesday night, allegedly has ties to the Party for Socialism and Liberation, a far-left pro-Palestine group that has organized both Black Lives Matter protests and anti-Israel protests.

The group continuously posts anti-Israel propaganda on their social media page.

One post, just hours ahead of the fatal shooting, calls for people to sign an anti-genocide pledge. Another post on Tuesday claims, “Israel has launched a new and even deadlier phase in their genocide against Gaza.”

But Thursday morning, the radical anti-Israel group tried to distance itself from the self-confessed gunman.

“We reject any attempt to associate the PSL with the DC shooting. Elias Rodriguez is not a member of the PSL. He had a brief association with one branch of the PSL that ended in 2017. We know of no contact with him in over 7 years. We have nothing to do with this shooting and do not support it,” the group wrote.

Many social media users are throwing the group’s posts right back in their face. The group has now turned the comments off.

One person wrote, “You built a movement that glorifies armed revolution, lionizes anti-Israel violence, and floods the internet with radicalization bait, and now you want to wash your hands because the shooter wasn’t a current active card-carrier? You don’t get to light the fire, walk away, and claim innocence when it spreads. Movements are judged not just by who pulls the trigger, but by who hands them the script.”
