From Fox News: Hours after more than 100 masked anti-Israel agitators stormed the Butler Library at Columbia University in New York City, pushing past campus security as students prepared for finals Wednesday afternoon, college officials summoned the New York Police Department (NYPD) in an effort to subdue the unruly mob.

More than 80 people have been arrested, all students at the university, NYPD sources told Fox News.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was also monitoring the situation. If arrests were made, the suspects were to be fingerprinted to determine if any are non-citizens, Fox News has learned.

The pro-Hamas mob stormed into the building as other students were in the library studying for their finals.

After the masked mob stormed past security and into the building, their scheme somewhat backfired when responding police then locked them inside the library and demanded their ID if they wanted out… or be arrested.

Students studying inside the library posted video footage, as the mob was trying to bust through the front doors, while security was attempting to hold them back.

Pro-Israel student Shoshana Aufzien wrote, “Protesters are assaulting and trying to trample Public Safety officers outside of Butler Library @Columbia. I’m terrified.”

As the standoff was happening at the door, someone pulled the fire alarm.

Pro-Israel student Eden Yadegar shared multiple videos from inside the library, including the moment the mob stormed through the door and into the building.

“Welcome to finals week at Columbia University,” Yadegar wrote mockingly, sharing a video of the ruckus inside the building.

“The masked @ColumbiaBDS protestors are now trying to leave the room they are in to march throughout the library, but Public Safety is not letting them exit without providing identification. Accountability matters!” she wrote, sharing a video of the mob wearing Palestinian scarfs on their heads, trying to get out.

“Protesters attempting to stampede public safety to avoid being identified as they leave,” explains X user Columbia Jewish & Israeli Students.

Police are heard ordering them to take their ID cards out, while the mob chants back defiantly.

Reporter Mary-Lyn Buckley shared multiple videos on X of the mob, many wearing Palestinian scarfs on their head and masks on their faces.

Police showed up and tried pushing the mob back, who were outside the building.

Pro-Israel student Elisha (Lishi) Baker shared a video of the second mob of protesters outside the building, who were trying to block responding officers.

Police were caught in the middle, trying to block the door as the outside mob was trying to storm the building as well.

Police were later seen marching the arrested protesters out of the building, while other protesters outside are heard chanting “Free Palestine” and banging on drums.

NYPD announced on X, “At the direct request of Columbia University, the NYPD is responding to an ongoing situation on campus where individuals have occupied a library and are trespassing.”

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) reacted to the wild scene.

“While Columbia students try to study for finals, they’re being bombarded with chants for a “global intifada.” President @realDonaldTrump is right: not a single taxpayer dollar should go to a university that allows chaos, antisemitism, and civil rights violations on its campus. Columbia must act—enough is enough,” Stefanik wrote.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio condemned the activists, writing in a post on X, “We are reviewing the visa status of the trespassers and vandals who took over Columbia University’s library. Pro-Hamas thugs are no longer welcome in our great nation.”

“Get out the popcorn… This is gonna be good,” quipped conservative commentator Tomi Lahren.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams released a statement and declared, “At the written request of @Columbia University, the NYPD is entering the campus to remove individuals who are trespassing. We will not tolerate hate or violence in any form in our city.”

Around midnight, the Columbia Palestine Solidarity Coalition (CPSC) posted a statement and tried to claim they were the victims.

“Columbia Public Safety blocked students from leaving Butler as NYPD choked and assaulted students,” the Palestinian group whined.

Shabbos Kestenbaum of Prager University vowed, “As of today, I will never hire any Columbia graduate from the class of 2026 onward. I hope leaders in the business world adopt this policy. The only reform is to bankrupt it, blacklist its students, and cast it into irrelevance. It is of no value to our great country.”
