From the New York Post: A rowdy mob of Tren de Aragua-linked gangbangers turned on a pair of NYPD cops in Times Square in a shocking caught-on-video assault — the second migrant attack on New York’s Finest in the tourist hot spot in less than two years.
The cowardly attack came after the Friday night boxing match between Ryan Garcia and Rolly Romero in the Crossroads of the World, with the two cops jumped while trying to stop the asylum seeking thugs from robbing a pair of youngsters, law enforcement sources said.
At least three of the brutes were rounded up by Sunday afternoon — including a 12-year-old reputed ring leader — with police identifying the mob as members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua’s baby-faced offshoot crew known as Diablos de la 42, or Devils of 42nd Street, the sources said.
At least three in the mob were already sought for a string of shocking robberies in Central Park — and were caught red-handed trying to pull off another heist when two cops intervened, they said.
In addition to the 12-year-old, the other two juvenile illegal alien gang members arrested were 16 ad 17 years old. Police aren’t releasing any of their names, due to their ages.
One fed-up officer asked, “Is this what a sanctuary city is supposed to be? One of these kids was 11 years old when he was the ringleader of that Central Park robbery pattern. What is it going to take for some of this policy to change when you have an 11, now 12-year-old, running around — or anybody — committing these crimes? When is common sense going to prevail? Don’t we have a moral obligation?”
The story was first broke by independent photographer Leeroy Johnson, known as “Viral News NYC”, who posted a video clip on X of the wild melee:

In another post, Johnson speculated, “Update. I’m being told 3 out of the 8 have been arrested. Won’t take too long to arrest the remaining number of suspects. Since they are minors, they will be let right out of jail, and most likely , they will be dropped or reduced.”
Sunday evening, Johnson shared a frustrating update:
NYPD Ordered Not to Hand Over Violent Venezuelan Gang Member to ICE After Times Square Cop Attack : sources
Earlier today, one of the individuals seen in a now-viral video assaulting NYPD officers in Times Square was arrested and taken into custody. Police sources state that the suspect is a member of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Agua (TDA) and has a long criminal history that includes multiple robberies and violent offenses. His role in the video—where several individuals were seen attacking uniformed officers—has sparked public outrage and renewed concerns about gang activity in the city.
Following his arrest, ICE agents arrived at the precinct in an attempt to take custody of the suspect. However, sources stated that NYPD transport officers were instructed not to stop for ICE agents or hand the suspect over. Despite his violent record and involvement in the Times Square incident, the suspect was brought to Criminal Court in Manhattan and remanded to a non-secure detention facility.
This is frustrating….

In another update Monday morning, Johnson added:
Sources tell us that ICE was initially at the precinct on an unrelated matter when they discovered that a migrant suspect they were looking for was already in NYPD custody. Rather than taking immediate action, ICE agents waited for the suspect to be brought out. At some point, someone contacted the precinct urging officers not to hand the suspect over to ICE. However, ICE could not take custody right away because the suspect was scheduled to appear in court.
We’re also hearing that the NYPD Police Commissioner has allegedly opened an internal investigation into whether any NYPD officers leaked information to ICE.
By law, NYPD officers are permitted to cooperate with ICE in criminal investigations. There are approximately 20 offenses that, if committed by a migrant, allow the NYPD to work directly with ICE agents.
