According to The New York Times, while DHS wouldn’t access IRS systems directly, ICE could verify information through IRS agents. Many illegal aliens in the U.S. file taxes using IRS-issued Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs), which include personal details like addresses, employers, and income. The IRS has encouraged the practice.
According to The New York Times, a deal is being finalized to allow ICE to use this data for deportation efforts.
