President Donald Trump blasted out a fiery statement Monday night against a Republican rebel who is refusing to vote for a government funding bill the president wants approved.

Republicans are trying to pass the House’s continuing resolution, which will extend current funding for the government through September 30, the end of the 2025 fiscal year.

The bill does include an additional $485 million for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and also adds a $6 billion increase in funding for veterans’ healthcare.

But Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) says he will not vote for the bill, because it maintains the same spending levels as before, without making any cuts, despite all the wasteful spending discovered by DOGE.

On Sunday, Massie announced, “I’m not voting for the Continuing Resolution budget (cut-copy-paste omnibus) this week. Why would I vote to continue the waste fraud and abuse DOGE has found? We were told the CR in December would get us to March when we would fight. Here we are in March, punting again!”

“If it passes this week, the CR obligates Trump (from now until September) to spend the same amounts of money on generally the same things Biden spent money on in his last 15 months in office. We could pass recissions later to undo some things, but there’s no commitment to do so,” Massie argued in a post on Monday.

A funding bill must be passed by Friday in order to avoid a government “shutdown.”

President Trump lashed out at Massie on Truth Social, and called for someone to run against him in the next election. He wrote:

Thank you to the House Freedom Caucus for just delivering a big blow to the Radical Left Democrats and their desire to raise Taxes and SHUT OUR COUNTRY DOWN! They hate America and all it stands for. That’s why they allowed MILLIONS of Criminals to invade our Nation. Sometimes it takes great courage to do the right thing.

Congressman Thomas Massie, of beautiful Kentucky, is an automatic “NO” vote on just about everything, despite the fact that he has always voted for Continuing Resolutions in the past. HE SHOULD BE PRIMARIED, and I will lead the charge against him. He’s just another GRANDSTANDER, who’s too much trouble, and not worth the fight.

He reminds me of Liz Chaney before her historic, record breaking fall (loss!). The people of Kentucky won’t stand for it, just watch. DO I HAVE ANY TAKERS???

Anyway, thank you again to the House Freedom Caucus for your very important vote. We need to buy some time in order to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE. Unite and Win!!!

Earlier on Monday, Trump 2024 campaign advisor Chris LaCivita warned Massie that his days may be numbered. Massie had fired back, “Someone thinks they can control my voting card by threatening my re-election. Guess what? Doesn’t work on me. Three times I’ve had a challenger who tried to be more MAGA than me. None busted 25% because my constituents prefer transparency and principles over blind allegiance.”

After President Trump slammed Massie on Truth Social, Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) pushed back, defending him.

“I have nothing but profound respect for @RepThomasMassie, who has worked harder than perhaps any member of Congress to bring federal spending under control. He might vote differently on this matter than most, but if he does so he’ll have a really good reason. I’m a huge fan,” Sen. Lee wrote.

Massie used Trump’s attack as a fundraiser moment, as he wrote on his personal X account, “Why don’t more Representatives stand on principle? Because telling the truth can get you in hot water. I’m going to need your help. I will run again because we need at least one person in Congress who won’t cave. Can you show support by contributing now? https://secure.thomasmassie.com/donate.”

Many conservatives are speaking out in defense of Massie.
