From Fox News: Former U.S. Rep. Mia Love’s family is focusing on enjoying the time they have left with her after her cancer stopped responding to treatments, the Utah Republican’s daughter, Abigale, said Saturday.
Love was diagnosed in 2022 with glioblastoma, a brain tumor, and revealed her diagnosis in August 2023.
Love became the first Black Republican woman elected to Congress when she won a redrawn district near Salt Lake City in 2014 that had previously been represented by a Democrat. She was also the first Black Congress member from Utah.
Mia Love turned 49 on Dec. 6.
In a post on Love’s X account, her daughter shared the following sad announcement:
“Hello Friends, I’m Mia’s daughter Abigale. Many of you are aware that Mom has been fighting GBM brain cancer. Sadly her cancer is no longer responding to treatment and the cancer is progressing. We have a shifted our focus from treatment to enjoying our remaining time with her. I am building an archive of special memories with Mia. Please send your pictures, videos and memories to me at [email protected]. Thank you ❤️.”

On May 16, 2024, Love made reference to her battle with cancer, writing on X, “These past few years have not been easy, but I have found strength and solace in my faith and constant support and love in my family. Together, they have given me hope! Whatever challenges you are facing now, keep fighting and know that there is hope.”
Out of Love’s final 3 personal statements on X, two were about the attempted assassination of President Trump on July 13, at the Butler, PA rally.
On the day of the shooting, Love wrote, “Political violence is despicable. There is not, nor will there ever be, a place for it in our Republic. If you find yourself supporting or wishing for violence, know you are wrong. May we recommit to civility, reasonable discourse, and proper civil engagement rather over anger and hatred.”

CJ Pearson, co-chair of the GOP Youth Advisory Council, wrote, “This is heartbreaking. When I was first starting out in politics, at 12 years old, Congresswoman Mia Love was one of the first people I looked up to. She was proof to me that the color of my skin didn’t have to dictate my politics. Will be praying for her daily.”

This is heartbreaking. I had missed the fact she had developed brain cancer. But Mia Love is a class act.
I was pleased to meet her once, years ago, and was struck by how genuine she was. In many ways a model for others to follow. https://t.co/1FM7TgiCGA
