From Fox Business: A former Department of Defense insider, Steve Simoni, says it’s “no surprise” DOGE has set its sights on the Pentagon for its next bout of uncovering “waste, fraud and abuse,” and predicted Monday that the Elon Musk-led group will uncover “all kinds of wasteful spending” in the process.

“It’s actually sending shockwaves through the department right now,” the Allen Control Systems CEO told FOX Business.

“When I was at the Department of Defense, we were spending $10,000 on HDMI cables that were ‘ruggedized’ when we could have purchased them for $20 or $30 at Best Buy… We need to get more efficient with our spending, because there’s a massive threat of drones that are proliferating on the battlefield right now, and the new administration, Secretary [Pete] Hegeth knows this.”

Simoni, a former Navy nuclear engineer, suggested waste identified by DOGE could be reallocated to modernize military technology and prepare for the battlefield of the future, particularly homing in on developments capable of taking out drones.

During the interview, Simoni blasted the fact that the U.S. military is relying so heavily on China for the drones it uses.

Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo noted that China produces around 90% of all drones made in the world.

“It’s unbelievable that we would buy the drones from our #1 adversary,” she said.

Last week, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth posted a video message to American taxpayers, and called out the media’s ‘bogus reports” that he said should be taken with “a grain of salt.’

Hegseth addressed three stories that the media has recently reported on, and then explained the truth of each one, regarding DOGE, the budget, and the ‘re-evaluation’ of the Pentagon’s workforce.
