REPORT: House, Senate lawmakers move to slap limits on NGOs aiding illegal immigrants amid Trump funding crackdown

From Fox News: Two lawmakers in the House and Senate are introducing separate bills to slap limits on nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) they believe are undermining U.S. immigration law – coming amid broader questions about funding of NGOs and a funding crackdown by the Trump administration.

Rep. Lance Gooden, R-Texas is reintroducing the “Protecting Federal Funds from Human Trafficking and Smuggling Act,” while Sen. Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn., is introducing the Fixing Exemptions for Networks Choosing to Enable Illegal Migration (Fence) Act.

Hagerty’s bill would end tax-exempt status for organizations that help illegal immigrants, requiring that exempt organizations do not engage in a pattern of providing assistance, benefits, services or other support to those who they know “to be unlawfully present in the United States.”

“Tax-exempt status is a privilege, not a right, and these organizations will be able to preserve their tax-exempt status simply by ceasing these activities,” his office said in a release.

Sen. Hagerty had announced last week, “Democrats and Bureaucrats have been using NGOs (they used to behave as charities) to launder bad money and bad policy that they were ashamed to run through the government. I’ve been aggressively calling this out in the Senate during the last 4 years, but it’s been covered up. President Trump’s effort is about to expose shameful, disgusting abuse of the public trust. Buckle up. I’m introducing legislation to fix it next week.”

“It’s absurd that our federal government has been giving tax exemptions and federal funding to NGOs that have helped facilitate record illegal immigration and carry out the far-left’s agenda, while cloaked as charities. President Trump’s executive order requiring a review of federal funding to NGOs will expose this malpractice that has occurred for too long. I’m pleased to introduce this legislation that will augment the President’s work to hold these NGOs accountable by revoking their tax-exempt statuses,” Sen. Hagerty declared Monday evening.

“I’m reintroducing the Protecting Federal Funds from Human Trafficking & Smuggling Act. This legislation mandates that NGOs prove they’re not involved in these heinous crimes to receive federal funding. No more enriching the coffers of open border NGOs!” Rep. Gooden announced.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem announced last month that she has stopped all grant funding that’s being abused by NGOs to facilitate illegal immigration into the US.

During a House Homeland Security hearing on November 11, it was revealed that Joe Biden’s DHS had been sending one NGO as much as $600 million every 2 or 3 months. WATCH:

Journalist Ashley St. Clair had also warned about the NGOs in a post in November. She wrote:

It is critically important to defund + investigate the NGOs who facilitated the migrant crisis with billions of federal taxpayer dollars. Corrupt federal officials have quite literally been the architects of an incentive structure in which taxpayers pay them billions of dollars to destroy our nation.

This is why Democrats attempted to hide a $1.4 BILLION allocation just for NGOs in their disastrous border bill. That allocation was set to be disbursed by FEMA to the NGOs if certain metrics were hit such as detention beds being filled.

In other words, all the NGOs had to do to unlock another $1.4 billion is get more people to come here illegally. Officials such as Mayorkas have been using these organizations such as HAIS for far too long to launder money and rip the fabric of America.

Defund and investigate every last NGO who received any federal funding above $10 million during the Biden-Harris Administration. A lot of people have made a lot of money off of this crisis and it’s time for transparency.

Most of these NGOs facilitating the migrant crisis have no business being called NGOs when their primary source of funding is from the government while also doing operations on behalf of the government!
