Leaders from around the world react to Trump’s inauguration

Leaders from around the world have released statements of congratulations after President Donald Trump was inaugurated to serve a second term in the Oval Office on Monday.

Argentina President Javier Milei flew to Washington, D.C. over the weekend to attend the inaugural festivities, including the Hispanic Inaugural Ball in DC on Saturday.

Milei, a staunch supporter of Trump, and who has taken a ‘Trump-‘like’ approach of leadership in his own country, released the following statement:

Congratulations, President @realDonaldTrump, on your magnificent leadership. Argentina stands firmly with the United States and is eager to collaborate closely with your administration. We anticipate a prosperous future for the world, the United States, and the strengthening of Argentina-US relations under your guidance.

In another post, Milei wrote:

Today I had the honor of attending the inauguration of President @realDonaldTrump. It is a historic moment for the United States and for the entire free world. Those of us who defend the life, liberty, and property of all human beings are happy to see that the ideas that we have been defending in Argentina since December 10, 2023 have triumphed again in the United States under President Trump.

Know that you will always be able to count on the Argentine Republic to defend the values ​​that made the West the greatest civilizing feat in the history of humanity. May God bless the Argentines and the Americans, may the forces of heaven be with us, and may the whole world know that everything is going according to plan.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese: “Congratulations @realDonaldTrump on your inauguration as 47th President of the United States. The United States is a great friend of Australia’s. Bolivia President Luis Alberto Arce Catacora: “With the inauguration of a new government in the United States, we, the Plurinational State of Bolivia, convey our good wishes to the American people and reaffirm our conviction to support a continent of peace, respect for democracy, self-determination of peoples, zero discrimination, sovereign dialogue on equal terms among peoples, as well as the validity of the principle of non-interference.”

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva: “On behalf of the Brazilian government, I congratulate President Donald Trump on his inauguration. Relations between Brazil and the United States are marked by a history of cooperation, based on mutual respect and a historic friendship. Our countries have strong ties in several areas, such as trade, science, education and culture. I am confident that we can continue to advance in these and other partnerships. I wish President Trump a successful term in office, contributing to the prosperity and well-being of the people of the United States and a more just and peaceful world.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau: “Congratulations, President Trump. Canada and the U.S. have the world’s most successful economic partnership. We have the chance to work together again — to create more jobs and prosperity for both our nations.”

Note: Although Trudeau has announced his resignation, he remains Prime Minister until a new leader is chosen.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban: “The executive orders signed by President @realDonaldTrump will transform not only the US, but the entire world. The rebellion against woke liberal democracy has entered a new stage. The time has come for patriotic forces to occupy Brussels!”

India Prime Minister Narendra Modi: “Congratulations my dear friend President @realDonaldTrump on your historic inauguration as the 47th President of the United States! I look forward to working closely together once again, to benefit both our countries, and to shape a better future for the world. Best wishes for a successful term ahead!”

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: “Congratulations President Trump! Sara and I send our warmest wishes to you, Melania and the American people on your second inauguration as President of the United States. 🇮🇱🇺🇸.”

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni: “Best wishes to the President @realDonaldTrump for the beginning of his new mandate at the helm of the United States of America. Japan’s Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba: “Warmest congratulations to @realDonaldTrump on your inauguration as President of the United States of America. Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum: “On behalf of the Government of Mexico, I congratulate Donald Trump @POTUS on his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States of America. As neighbors and trading partners, dialogue, respect and cooperation will always be the symbol of our relationship.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin. In a video statement, Putin congratulated US President Trump on his inauguration and says Russia is ready for peaceful relations with the United States.
