Despite being in the middle of the 30-day national mourning period for former president Jimmy Carter, many Republican governors have issued declarations announcing that the U.S. flag will fly at full-staff in their states on Monday, the day of President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Additionally, House Speaker Mike Johnson has announced that the flag will fly at full-staff on the U.S. Capitol on Monday.

However, one Republican governor has taken it a step father, announcing he will be flying a MAGA flag on that day.

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry released a proclamation on Friday, noting Trump’s historic landslide victory and his America First agenda, and wrote:

“Now, therefore, I, Jeff Landry, Governor of the State of Louisiana, ask that you join me in displaying your United States and Make America Great Again flags on January 20, 2025, to commemorate the inauguration of the 47th President of the United States.”

Along with a copy of the declaration, the governor wrote on social media, “BREAKING: Governor Landry to fly Make America Great Again flag at Louisiana Governor’s Mansion on Jan. 20 in honor of the Inauguration of President @realDonaldTrump. The Governor encourages Louisianans to join in the celebration!”
