From the New York Post: Retiring President Biden said Wednesday that US citizens will be among those released by Hamas as part of a Gaza Strip cease-fire deal with Israel — while refusing to give any credit to President-elect Donald Trump for escalating pressure on the terrorist group.
“I’m proud to say Americans will be part of that hostage release in phase one,” Biden, 82, said at the White House after Qatar’s government announced the agreement, in which hostages are expected to be released as early as Sunday.
Biden repeatedly refused to give any credit to Trump, 78, who had threatened “hell” for Hamas if it did not release the hostages by the time he took office on Monday.
Asked about the contribution of Trump’s envoys to sealing the agreement, Biden replied, “Well, you know, this is the exact framework of the deal I proposed back in May, the exact.”

President-elect Donald Trump had warned in recent days that if the hostages are not released prior to his inauguration, there would be “hell to pay.”
The NY Post notes that Trump’s Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff was heavily involved in the negotiations for the ceasefire peace deal.
However, during Biden’s “victory lap” on Wednesday, a reporter asked whether Biden or Trump deserved credit.
Biden sneered, “Is that a joke? Oh —” and then walked away.

However…. although Biden refused to give Trump the credit, alleging that this was the EXACT peace deal he had personally proposed in the past, his own State Department said differently!
“When it comes to the involvement of President-elect Trump’s team, it’s been absolutely critical in getting this deal over the line,” admitted State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller.
“It’s been critical because, obviously, this administration’s term in office will expire in 5 days,” he added, noting that the Trump administration will be pressuring Israel to stick to the deal, and Egypt and Qatar will be pressuring Hamas to stick to their side of the deal in the weeks ahead.
“We thank the Trump team for working with [us] on this ceasefire agreement, and I think it’s important that they were at the table,” Miller said.

Additionally, an Arab official is also crediting Trump’s team for the peace deal, according to a report by the Times Of Israel:
A “tense” weekend meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and incoming Mideast envoy Steve Witkoff led to a breakthrough in the hostage negotiations, with the top aide to US President-elect Donald Trump doing more to sway the premier in a single sit-down than outgoing President Joe Biden did all year, two Arab officials told The Times of Israel on Tuesday.
Witkoff has been in Doha for the past week to take part in the hostage negotiations, as mediators try to secure a deal before Trump’s January 20 inauguration. On Saturday, Witkoff flew to Israel for a meeting with Netanyahu at the premier’s Jerusalem office.

Below is a video of Biden’s full remarks, as he takes his ‘victory lap’ over the peace deal, 5 days before he deports the Oval Office for good.
Podcast host Clay Travis declared, “President Trump & his team deserve 100% credit for the cease fire in Gaza. Joe Biden’s team had 15 months to get a deal done. They couldn’t. Trump wins, threatens hell to pay without a deal, & five days before he enters office, we get a deal. Well done, Trump & American voters.”
