From the Washington Examiner: Incoming first lady Melania Trump revealed that her “first priority” over the next four years will be to “serve the country,” adding that she intends to spend the majority of her time in the White House.
Previous reports claimed that President-elect Donald Trump’s wife would not live in the White House full-time during her husband’s second presidency and instead split her time between New York City and Palm Beach, Florida. However, Melania Trump has said she would be in the White House for most of her husband’s term, going to New York and Palm Beach when situations call for her attendance.
“My first priority is, you know, to be a mom, to be a first lady, to be a wife,” she said in an exclusive interview on Fox News’s Fox & Friends. “And once we are in on Jan. 20, you serve the country.”
Mrs. Trump said she still has a few people to hire for her White House team, but she is not rushing the process, but will see what is needed once she is in the White House.
“I don’t want to hire too many people on my team and spend too much taxpayer money. I want to make sure that every position, they are talented, have merit and know what they are doing,” she said, adding that those she hires must be a team player and not have their own agenda, but will be committed to serving her, her office and the country.
She said she has already packed and chosen the furniture that she wants moved in to make the White House their new home, and noted that it’s much easier this time since she has lived there before.
On January 20, the transition team has only 5 hours to move the former president out and move the news president in, so everything has to planned in advance, Mrs. Trump explained.
She acknowledged that she doesn’t always agree with her husband on every issue, but said that’s ok, “I stand on my own two feet.”
