LA BURNS: Actor James Woods among those evacuating flames, posts updates

Conservative actor James Woods and his wife Sara were some of those who had to evacuate their home Tuesday, due to the out-of-control wildfire in the wealthy Los Angeles area of Pacific Palisades, California.

In an updated post around midnight local time, Woods shared news that indicates his home has now burned.

An estimated 30,000 people were ordered to evacuate, as the fire spread to cover over 3,000 acres, burning entire neighborhoods.

Woods, 77, posted a video Tuesday afternoon, and said he was standing in his driveway, getting ready to evacuate. He said there are a lot of planes flying over, dropping water. But the fire raged on and smoke filled the air.

Another video appears to be from the back of his home, as they watched the fire in the distance.

“We were blessed to have LA fire and police depts doing their jobs so well. We are safe and out. There are several elementary schools in our neighborhood and there was an enormous community effort to evacuate the children safely. Can not speak more highly of the LA fire and LAPD,” Woods wrote.

A neighbor who had not evacuated yet later sent Woods the following video, and assured him that his house was not on fire yet.

Sadly, just two houses down the street, a house is burning to the ground.

In an update, Woods announced, “To all the wonderful people who’ve reached out to us, thank you for being so concerned. Just letting you know that we were able to evacuate successfully. I do not know at this moment if our home is still standing, but sadly houses on our little street are not.”

“Just been informed our next door neighbor’s house is on fire. Fortunately they were safely evacuated,” came the next update.

“We cleared and built pathways on our hillside with sprinkler systems that can be remotely managed. We also did brush clearance per local fire prevention mandates. I’m hoping it has done some good. It’s hard to beat the winds this time of year though, if someone is careless,” Woods explained.

“We renovated a home after COVID and just finished last month. To all the lovely people offering care and love, I’ll say this. There is no possession as priceless as friends and good neighbors during a tragedy. I can’t believe the blessings we enjoy, and I am humbly grateful,” he added.

Next comes a heart-warming / heart-breaking update.

“Sara’s eight-year-old niece offered her Yeti piggy bank to help us. Some things will make a grown man cry,” Woods wrote.

Late Tuesday night, Woods shared some bad news. In response to a question about insurance companies, he wrote, “Actually one of the major insurances companies canceled all the policies in our neighborhood about four months ago.”

Woods also shared a terrifying video taken as a neighbor’s friend evacuated the same area.

Around midnight, Woods shared an update that indicated his beloved home is now burning.

“All the smoke detectors are going off in our house and transmitting to our iPhones. I couldn’t believe our lovely little home in the hills held on this long. It feels like losing a loved one,” he announced.

“I took this last night from our beautiful little home in the Palisades. Now all the fire alarms are going off at once remotely. It tests your soul, losing everything at once, I must say,” he added.

Next, he revealed that the Los Angeles Fire Department Chief supports “DEI.”

Priorities stated in her bio below. Refilling the water reservoirs would have been a welcome priority, too, but I guess she had too much on her plate promoting diversity.
