It has officially been four years since the Capitol protests following the 2020 presidential election.

Liberal politicians, including key figures like Nancy Pelosi, Liz Cheney, and Chuck Schumer, labeled this event as an “insurrection,” attempting to link Trump’s rhetoric to the incitement of the crowd, suggesting he was responsible for the breach. However, Pelosi herself, on recorded footage, admitted she was responsible for the security failures of Jan. 6

Still, the Democrats pushed for an extensive investigation and particular narrative by forming the House Select Committee, which aimed to paint Trump accountable for the event, with some advocating for his impeachment or criminal charges. The narrative has been used to justify stringent legal actions against participants, with over 1,500 individuals charged, many for minor offenses like trespassing, leading to criticisms about the fairness and proportionality of these legal responses.

Some were charged extensively, yet many of their actions did not constitute true crimes. Nevertheless, the legal proceedings have moved forward over the years.

A major voter desire for the 2024 election was the request for Trump to pardon the remaining J6 protesters who are currently imprisoned. Now that he won and is set to be inaugurated on Jan. 20, many are hoping it is one of his first executive orders.
