UPDATE #1 (Dec. 20 / 5:25 pm ET): Authorities have now revealed that the man who plowed a speeding car through a crowded Christmas Market in Magdeburg, Germany was a 50-year-old man from Saudi Arabia who worked as a doctor in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.
Police also reportedly found a case in the vehicle that contains what they believe is an explosive device, which apparently did not detonate.
Victim counts have been updated to: 68 injured, 2 dead.
Prominent X user Martin Sellner shared a video and wrote: “The #Magdeburg Terrorist is said to be a man born in 1974 in Saudi Arabia. He had rented a car which he then drove to the Christmas market. A piece of luggage was found on the passenger seat. It may contain an explosive device. Btw its friday, the holy day for muslims….”

From ABC News: A car plowed into a crowd of people at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, on Friday, injuring multiple victims and sending people fleeing in panic, according to police.
Extensive police operations are underway at the Magdeburg Christmas market, which is now closed, police said.
Magdeburg is about a two-hour drive west of Berlin.
Fox News has described the incident as a suspected terror attack, and GBNews reported that local police are searching the cordoned-off area of the Christmas market for explosives. UPDATE: Police are now reportedly saying there was an explosive device in the vehicle involved in the attack.
According to the Daily Mail, at an estimated 60 to 80 people were injured in the horrifying attack, and one has already been confirmed dead. The Daily Mail wrote:
The driver of the car, reported to be a dark BMW, was arrested following the crash which took place at 7:04pm today, according to unidentified government officials in the state of Saxony-Anhalt who spoke to the dpa news agency.
Other reports are saying multiple people have been killed. Exact numbers of victims is still unconfirmed.

The Associated Press noted that a similar incident happened 8 years ago:
On Dec. 19, 2016 in Berlin, an Islamic extremist attacker plowed through a crowd of Christmas market-goers with a truck, leaving 13 people dead and injuring dozens more. The attacker was killed days later in a shootout in Italy.
