From NBC News:Veteran Fox News star Neil Cavuto is exiting after 28 years at the anchor’s desk, the network confirmed on Thursday.

His final day will be today, signing off at the end of “Your World,” the afternoon program he has hosted since Fox News launched in 1996.

Neil Cavuto’s illustrious career has been a master class in journalism and we’re extremely proud of his incredible 28-year run with Fox News Media,” the network said in a statement. “His programs have defined business news and set the standard for the entire industry. We wish him a heartfelt farewell and all the best on his next chapter.”

Cavuto was a mainstay at the network, hosting three shows across Fox News and sister channel Fox Business Network, totaling 12 hours of programming per week. Beyond anchoring daily programs “Your World” and “Cavuto: Coast to Coast,” and weekend show “Cavuto Live,” the 66-year-old served as a senior vice president of Fox Business Network.

Mediaite, who first reported the news of Cavuto’s departure, explained that his contract with the network is up next week. A source told The Hill that Fox offered Cavuto a new deal, but he declined to accept.

Mediaite also noted that Cavuto has fought a decades-long battle with multiple sclerosis and “became a vocal critic of Covid vaccine denialism after a second bout of the virus nearly took his life.”

Although Cavuto has been a frequent critic of President-elect Donald Trump, his departure reportedly had nothing to do with Trump.

Cavuto didn’t say what his future plans are, but did say, “I’m not leaving journalism. I’m just leaving here.”

Below is Cavuto’s final sign-off as he finished his last show on Fox News Thursday evening:

Trump celebrated Cavuto’s departure, writing in a Truth Social post, “GOOD NEWS FOR AMERICA! Neil Cavuto, the Lowest Rated Anchor on Fox, by far, is leaving – Should have happened a long time ago!”

Fox News reporter Bill Melugin sent his best wishes with the following statement:

We are losing at gem at @FoxNews w/ @TeamCavuto. The viewers at home wouldn’t know this, but he uses no scripts, no teleprompter. He wings everything with knowledge of every subject. Such a kind man, always gracious to have me on his show & highlight the border since I joined FOX.

And he was never afraid to ruffle feathers on both sides of the aisle, an admirable quality in today’s polarized climate.

Wishing him the best!

Fox News meteorologist Janice Dean wrote, “I am going to miss seeing Neil Cavuto in the office. He’s a hero of mine. When I was diagnosed with MS almost 20 years ago he gave me hope that I could still pursue my dreams. Always kind, generous and an inspiration. Grateful to call him a friend.”

Fox host Howard Kurtz wrote, “Just saw that Neil Cavuto is leaving Fox after 28 years. He has made enormous contributions, while battling serious health problems. But he is also a first-class human being who is gracious to everyone, whether they are high or low on the totem poll. We will miss him!”

However, many conservatives are cheering Cavuto’s departure from Fox, and say they will definitely not miss him.
